Free Recycling Technical Assistance Available from DEP

Monday November 13th, 2017
The state Department of Environmental Protection is urging townships with recycling programs to take advantage of the free help available through the Recycling Technical Assistance Program. The initiative offers advice on how to upgrade recycling programs to maximize material recovery and ensure a program’s sustainability.

Technical assistance, up to a value of $7,500, is available at no charge to townships selected to participate. The program offers help with such things as curbside and drop-off recycling, leaf collection, material recovery facilities, composting, commercial recycling, and pay-as-you-throw systems.

Reports from completed municipal assistance projects are available by visiting www.dep.pa.gov. (Type “recycling technical assistance” in the search field.)

DEP created the Recycling Technical Assistance Program for municipalities that want to achieve higher recycling rates, which enable them to receive larger recycling performance grants.

To apply for technical assistance, email recyclepa@pa.gov or call (717) 787-7382.
