Upper Makefield Township, population 8,190, seeks a dynamic individual to serve as the community’s next manager. Located in historic Bucks County, Upper Makefield is a community with a strong history of environmental and historic preservation. Appointed by a five-member board of supervisors, the manager oversees the day-to-day operation of the local government, manages a $16 million budget, and implements policy established by the elected board. 

The successful candidate will have proven administrative skills in budgeting and financial management, personnel management, and collective bargaining; be a team-oriented leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills; and be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including a highly engaged citizenry. Municipal experience is preferred. A degree in public management or equivalent experience is expected.

Upper Macungie Township in Lehigh County is seeking an experienced office administrator with an accounting background and proven leadership, communication, and analytical skills. This position is responsible for accounts payable and receivable, billings, audits, spreadsheets, and reports, as well as managing and setting up accounts for new customers and construction and conducting yearly water flow audits.

The administrator must be able to interact politely and professionally with companies and residents over the phone and in person. The ideal candidate should be able to work in a team environment and have good oral, written, and organizational skills; attention to detail; proficiency with systems and technology, including Microsoft Office; and the ability to work with spreadsheets. Basic knowledge of municipal authority processes and IT experience are desired but not required.

Hempfield Township in Westmoreland County is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of code specialist. This position performs a variety of technical duties in support of the township’s code enforcement program, including monitoring and enforcing township codes and ordinances, performing residential building inspections, and other related duties as needed. The Borough of Kennett Square in Chester County, population 6,500, is seeking a borough manager. The borough has a seven-member council elected at large, 42 employees, and an $11.5 million budget; professional staff, supportive council. The previous manager served six years.

Kennett Square is known as the “Mushroom Capital” and features such attractions as the Wyeth Brandywine Art Museum, Longwood Gardens, the famous Talula’s Table restaurant, and the Brandywine Battlefield. The borough has nationally recognized schools and is located near the University of Delaware and West Chester University.

A bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree preferred. Three years of experience as a municipal manager or assistant manager are required; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Successful experience in economic development and financial management is desired.

The City of Altoona in Blair County, population 45,000, is seeking applicants for the position of city manager. Altoona has a seven-member council elected at large, 250 employees, and a $32 million budget. The last manager retired after 17 years in the position.

The city, located in the picturesque mountains of central Pennsylvania, is home to the Altoona Campus of Penn State University, with 4,500 students, and the famous Horseshoe Curve Railroad Museum. Area residents also enjoy the arts, music, theater, and sports, including the Altoona Curve AA professional baseball team.

A bachelor’s degree and at least five years of municipal management experience are required; a master’s degree and additional years of experience are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Successful experience in economic development and financial management are also desired.

The Board of Directors of the Borough of Conshohocken Authority in Montgomery County is seeking applicants for a full-time finance director. The position’s primary functions are the accurate recording of all receipts and expenditures and maintenance of all journals, general ledgers, escrow funds, and all other authority accounting records according to established authority practice and generally accepted accounting standards.

The finance director will help prepare quarterly and annual financial reports and the annual audit, and will review bookkeeping-related work by other clerical staff. The position will generally require a 40-hour week; however, additional effort may  be required at times. Attendance at regular and special board and/or committee meetings is expected.

Candidates should have considerable experience in bookkeeping and/or college accounting courses and extensive knowledge of accounting principles and office practices.
