BOROUGH MANAGER

The Borough of Slatington in northern Lehigh County, with a population of 4,200 and a budget of $4.2 million, is seeking candidates for the position of borough manager.  Slatington is situated along the Lehigh River about 15 miles north of Allentown.

The position entails supervising 12 to 15 borough employees, planning and supervising borough projects, searching and applying for grants, and preparing an annual budget. The manager is also principally responsible for all nonlegislative and nonjudicial powers and duties of the borough council.

The ideal candidate will have a college degree in public/business administration or civil engineering and municipal management or equivalent experience; municipal experience is a plus. Candidates should have strong supervisory and planning skills and be familiar with currently supported versions of Windows and Microsoft Office software.

PLANNING/ZONING SECRETARY

Upper Macungie Township in Lehigh County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of planning/zoning secretary. This position will serve as the secretary to the planning/zoning department and be the first line of contact with the public. It will entail a variety of duties, such as performing customer service, maintaining township records, helping the public with the application process, recording meeting minutes, reporting, scheduling, advertising public notices, and answering incoming phone calls. The secretary will work closely with the director of planning and zoning and coordinate and interact with other township departments and officials, as well as with the township’s zoning hearing board and planning commission.

This position requires a basic knowledge of state regulations, township ordinances, the Right-to-Know Act, procedures and regulations for handling permits, and municipal government. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively, have great customer service skills, and be able to prepare letters and reports. BOROUGH ADMINISTRATOR

Waldwick, N.J., population 9,625, is seeking a borough administrator. Located in Bergen County approximately 28 miles from New York City, Waldwick is a full-service community in an area of 2.2 miles, with an excellent school district, a $14 million general operating budget, a water utility with a $1.8 million budget, and 52 employees. The administrator is appointed by the mayor and borough council and is responsible for administration of the borough’s goals, policies, and programs, as well as the management of the borough’s services. The mayor and six borough council members are elected on a partisan basis.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field and five years of experience in local government. A master’s degree in public administration or related degree is strongly desired. Residency is not required. Starting salary range is $100K to $150K, DOQ, with excellent benefits. FINANCE/HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

FINANCE DIRECTOR

Upper Macungie Township in Lehigh County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of finance director. This position will be responsible for all financial affairs of the municipality, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting and procedures, cash management, risk management, and tax collection.

This position will provide administrative and technical support services, such as basic and advanced bookkeeping and accounting, recordkeeping, payroll processing, and management of financial records in accordance with federal, state, and local agencies. The finance director effectively manages the revenue and expenditures of the township and the finance/administration office and also works closely with the township manager.

This position requires knowledge of fiscal procedures and policies in municipal government, strong self-discipline, and office managerial skills, as well as an equally strong spirit of teamwork and cooperation. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively, prepare financial statements, and design a new accounting system.

Applicants should have experience with accounting/finance and management. A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, administration, or related field is required; a master’s degree in business, public administration, or accounting/finance will be highly considered. ASSISTANT TO THE TOWNSHIP MANAGER

West Pikeland Township in Chester County, a suburban township of the second class with a population of 4,000, seeks applicants for an assistant to the manager position. The assistant to the manager helps the township manager with the coordination, development, and administration of various government functions and programs while serving as the township secretary and Right-to-Know officer. This position serves as the senior non-exempt administrative employee for the township.

Qualified applicants must have a college degree and familiarity with municipal government. TOWNSHIP MANAGER

Conewago Township in Adams County, population about 7,500, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of township manager. This challenging position answers to a five-member board of supervisors. A bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field and at least five years of experience in local government administration and municipal management, including demonstrated supervisory skills, are required. Experience in a similarly sized community with a talented and diverse staff will be considered.

Applicants must have a full grasp of a range of governmental functions and be able to carry out key policy initiatives and engage in successful strategic planning. BOROUGH MANAGER

Manheim Borough, located in northern Lancaster County, is accepting applications for the position of borough manager.
